Firewood, or how to prepare for the heating season?

advice - wood pellet

Wood for one of the oldest and the oldest used fuel materials, which until the end of the 19th century was one of the most popular renewable fuel levels. In fact, only a man with the ability to use fire and put on ten elements survived, wood became the most important oil. He knew about the mythical Prometheus now ...

Why don't we smoke fresh wood?

In the fireplace you can do everything that is the best wood species, but generally you can use them. It is dissolved, but only in this condition. In the case of claims, from 50% to 70% of water. Such wood has a very low calorific value and, moreover, it smokes, burns badly and gives little heat. In addition, condensed water vapor is embedded in the fireplaces' ducts and walls, which can help to reduce their importance and sharpness.

Preparation for the heating season

Therefore, firewood must be seasoned and properly prepared. It is worth to cut them beforehand on a suitable sized clearing, which dries faster and is ready for use immediately. The wood should be stored under a roof for a maximum of two years until its humidity drops to 20%. Also make sure that it does not lie directly on the ground, but that it is properly secured. Do not store it in windproof rooms, because it can absorb moisture from the ground or even make it completely unusable.

What typ of wood to choose?

Specialists advise against coniferous wood, which contains a lot of resin. During combustion, a lot of smoke and soot are generated, which is deposited in the chimney and in the chimney. Even a few millimeter layer of soot reduces the efficiency and effectiveness of the fireplace.

You will achieve a much better heating effect using hard wood from deciduous trees such as oak or beech. It also provides more heat than firewood from the so-called soft tree species such as poplar or lime. In addition, less often you will have to add to the fireplace, which will significantly contribute to the consumption of less wood when heating your home.

Were buy the right fireplace wood?

It is best to buy firewood in forest fireplaces, saw mills or heating warehouses. When deciding on wood from the forest inspectorate, it should be remembered that it requires additional preparation - so it must be cut and stored for a minimum of one year. Certainly, this is the cheapest solution, because the price of wood in the forest inspectorate is often three times lower than wood ready for use. Sawmills and fuel depots offer seasoned wood - mostly for 12 to 18 months, but much more expensive.

Fireplaces Hitze yet wood

Due to the design of Hitze fireplace inserts, we recommend the use of deciduous wood, such as oak, hornbeam, ash, beech or birch. We strongly advise against burning wood with conifers and we ask you to beware of the wood of tropical trees! When it comes to adding logs to the combustion chamber, we recommend placing them parallel to the plane of the door.
